First off, EVERY Indy 500 I've seen (haven't missed one since 1972) is better than ANY of the Brickyard 400's that have been run (been to them all).
Having said that, if I had to pick a Brickyard it would have to be the first, just because it was the first. My favorite Indianapolis 500 would be a toss-up among several for various reasons. 1977 (Foyt's 4th), 1982 (Johncock v Mears), 1983 (Little Al blocking Sneva), 1985 (Sullivan and Mario), 1992 (Unser Jr and Goodyear), 1995 (Penske missing the show), 2004 (Rice coming from mid-pack at least twice to win in the rain/tornados), and 2006 (Hornish edges Marco) would all make the list. There's nothing like Race Day in May. Rain or shine, it's better than the Brickyard 400, hands down.
